U.S. Creating 400,000 Strong Military Force for Asia-Pacific War on China - Russian Intelligence Chief

As the Joe Biden administration makes countering China its primary foreign policy priority, it has drastically increased military activities in the East and South China Seas and escalated efforts to create a power bloc to maintain American hegemony in the region.

Russian Intelligence Chief reported that United States has created a 400,000 strong force for the Asia Pacific to target China.

The Pentagon plans to create a task force in the Pacific specifically aimed at containing China in south and east Asia by 2024, and will set up two brigades for cyber operations by 2028. Hypersonic missiles will also be deployed to the region by that time.

China became the world’s largest economy in 2017, and has been the primary focus of American military attentions since 2010. China has notably outspent the US in new military acquisitions from 2020 due to its far larger industrial base.

China’s J20 stealth fighter, for example, has a research of development cost before entering service of just $4.5 billion - while its lighter American rival the F35 cost approximately $55.

This discrepancy has forced the US to rely on building coalitions to try to maintain a balance of power in the region that favours American and Western interests.

DRDO set to back in action with ‘Agni Prime’ test scheduled next week

DRDO will be carrying out a trial of the brand New missile that will be called ”Agni Prime” that is an improved variant of the Agni-1. The short range ballistic missile will have a range of 1000 to 1500 kilometers.

Agni Prime will be a Canister based surface to a surface “short range ballistic missile” that is capable of carrying a conventional payload of 1,000 kilogram or a nuclear warhead. Unlike the single stage Agni-1, Agni Prime is a double stage missile that can evade any ballistic missile system, Agni Prime with usage of composite materials will make missile not only lighter but also much sleeker.

Agni Prime will be supplementing Agni-1 and eventually replace Agni-1 in the Strategic Forces Command, which is responsible for the management and administration of the country’s tactical and strategic nuclear weapons stockpile.

Chinese S-400 systems across LAC, forces India to rethink air defence

The ongoing standoff with the People’s Liberation Army on China in East Ladakh with the presence of two S-400 squadrons of anti aircraft systems at Hotan air base in Xinjiang and Nyingchi air base in Tibet, just across Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh respectively, has forced the national security planners into a rethink about air defence and counter measures.

To add to this increasingly complex scenario are armed UAVs, swarm drones, missiles and rockets, which are now part of “stand alone weapon systems” of the PLA. While India is expected to get five squadrons of S-400 systems from Russia starting December 2021.

Perhaps, this is the reason why the Indian Air Force is relying on Hammer “air to ground missile” on Rafale fighter as a future weapon as the missile does not need to be fired from a height; it just hugs the mountain features, zooms to a height when approaching the target and then destroys it top down.

With the air defence system under challenge, the fundamental question that is being asked is should India invest in more aircraft and helicopters or stand alone systems that will dictate future wars.

India-US kick off mega wargame in Indian Ocean with eye on China

Continuing its engagement with partners in the Indian Ocean Region, India is all set to kick start a two-day air combat exercise with the US. The US Navy’s Ronald Regan Carrier Strike Group, which is currently in the Indian Ocean, will participate in the exercise, which will start on 23rd June.

Jaguar and Sukhoi 30 MKI fighters of the Indian Air Force will take part in the exercise with Phalcon and Netra early warning aircraft and IL-78 air to air refueller aircraft.

The US Navy will be fielding its F-18 fighters and E2C Hawkeye carrier based “airborne early warning and command and control aircraft”.

The exercise will focus on multiple areas, including enhancing aspects of interoperability and exchange of best practices in the maritime airpower domain.

Earlier this year, Sukhoi 30 MKI of the IAF, armed with BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, took part in the ongoing naval exercise with the US.

China’s fourth aircraft carrier on cards, this time it’s likely be nuclear-powered

China’s naval buildup already worrying still continues, and on the cards is a fourth aircraft carrier, this time nuclear powered Aircraft Carrier. The PLA Navy already has two carriers– the Laoling and the Shandong– with a third under construction. None of the earlier carriers are nuclear powered.

To train its carrier pilots, the PLA Navy is readying a mock landing strip at Lingshui, on Hainan Island. This will be a “mock landing strip” so that carrier pilots are trained in taking off, and landing, a more difficult exercise.

Meanwhile, an advanced Type 055 guided missile destroyer has joined the Chinese naval fleet. This is the Lhasa, with new air defence and missile defence capabilities and also, anti-ship missiles. The Lhasa, about 12,000 tons, is the second of its class, after the Nanchang, which joined the fleet last year.
