Rustom 2 Drone: HAL On Course
To Develop India’s Most Ambitious, Powerful UAV Project?
India’s ambitious home grown
Rustom 2 medium altitude long endurance drone could be developed by Hindustan
Aeronautics Limited (HAL) with Private Partnership Such as Larsen & Toubro,
TATA, & Godrej Aerospace building most of the components.
Rustom 2, now called
TAPAS BH-201, is going to be India’s first indigenously built unmanned combat
aerial vehicle having an operational range of 1000 kilometers, with a payload
capacity of 350 kg.
The avionics,
electronics, sensors, and ground control systems could be manufactured by BEL.
DRDO’s Defence Electronics Application Laboratory, Dehradun, was responsible
for developing and integrating the data links for Rustom II.
The drone is currently
powered by a 180 HP engine and is expected to fly with indigenous engines in
the 165-210 HP class, developed by in partnership with Tech Mahindra.
With a higher capacity

Invisible Soldiers: New
Camouflage Sheet Provides Israeli Soldiers With A Cloak Of Invisibility
The Israeli Special
Forces will be able to blind the adversary’s peering eyes with the camouflage
technology that makes the person wearing it on the battlefield nearly
invisible.
The technology,
developed by Israel based Polaris Solutions Limited, provides multispectral
concealment to the soldiers at battle in both thermal and visual & increase
soldier battlefield survivability.
Called the Kit 300, the
product uses thermal visual concealment (TVC) material to combine microfibres,
metals, and polymers that renders soldiers on the battlefield literally
invisible to a range of thermal cameras. That makes it ideal for deployment in
a range of counter-surveillance missions.
Russia to develop
two-seater Su-57 fifth-generation fighter for exports
The Sukhoi Design Bureau
and The Russian Defense Ministry plan to develop a two seater Sukhoi-57 fifth generation
fighter in its export configuration.
Sukhoi-57 is the first
fighter in Russian military service to use stealth technology. The Sukhoi-57 is
intended to succeed the MiG-29 and Sukhoi-27.
According to Sukhoi, the
multirole fighter is designed to have supercruise, supermaneuverability,
stealth, and integrated avionics to overcome the previous generations of
fighter aircraft and ground naval defenses. The fighter jet is currently
powered by Izdeliye 117 or AL-41F1 augmented turbofans.
These new jets will
undoubtedly garner much demand for themselves once they are available in the
global market, which will eventually create the need for even more recent
technology.

Phased Out in a Planned Manner: Indian Airforce Chief RKS Bhadauria
Amidst the controversy
towering over the MiG-21 Bison, following a recent crash, third in this year,
the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria said that there is a
plan to phase out the ageing fleet and substituting them with modern fighter
jets.
However, he added that
these vintage MiG-21s are not "flying coffins" and in fact, every
plane at the academy is fit to fly.
The recent crash of a MiG-21
Bison, that took life of a pilot, in Gwalior has turned the spotlight on
India’s longest serving fighter plane. Talking about it, the chief said that
the planes do not become accident prone just because of their age and there can
be many more reasons for the accident. However, he added that MiG-21 will be
phased out in a planned way very soon.
