DRDO successfully flight tests indigenously developed Man-Portable Anti Tank Missile

In a major boost to Atmanirbhar Bharat and strengthening Army, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile today.

The missile was launched from a man portable launcher integrated with thermal site and the target was mimicking a tank. The missile hit the target in direct attack mode and destroyed it with precision. The test has validated the minimum range successfully.

All the mission objectives were met. The missile Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile has already been successfully flight tested for the maximum range. The missile is incorporated with state-of-the-art Miniaturized Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics.

DRDO successfully flight-tested Akash-NG surface-to-air missile

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully flight-tested the next-generation Akash surface-to-air missile (Akash NG) system from the Integrated Test Range off the Odisha coast.

The Akash NG flight trial was conducted at 12.45 pm from a land-based platform, with all weapon system elements such as multifunction radars, command, control & communication systems, etc. The missile demonstrated high manoeuvrability required for neutralizing fast & agile aerial threats.

Akash NG is a new generation Surface to Air Missile meant for use by Indian Air Force to intercept high manoeuvring low Radar Cross Section aerial threats.

Akash NG was tested earlier this year for the first time and this is the second test of the missile system in the full operational configuration that was carried out by a combined team of DRDO, Bharat Dynamics Limited, and Bharat Electronics in the presence of the representatives of Indian Air Force.

MiGs Advanced ship borne multirole fighter concept shows the untapped potentials of India’s TEDBF

At the ongoing MAKS 2021 air show in Moscow, Russia’s MiG Corporation showcased a scale model of the Advanced ship borne multirole fighter concept that is on offer to the Russian Navy to replace its present deck based MiG-29K fighter jets on the next supercarrier under Project 23000E for the Russian Navy and people were amazed at the design similarities with India’s Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF) that is under development for India’s deck based fighter jet-requirements.

MiGs canard delta wing, twin engine, Advanced ship borne multirole fighter concept also highlights its two internal weapons bays with four weapons stations. TEDBF with a frontal section that is geometrically optimized for the reduced radar cross-section and pretty clean design has the potential to be classified as 5 Minus fighter jet.

TEDBF being a deck-based fighter jet it also has a role to play as a main air defense platform to the whole carrier battle group against hostile aircraft in the vicinity and inclusion of the stealth and the Internal weapons bay for the next generation battle over the sea or near the coastline will become crucial as China is planning to induct its deck based stealth fighter at the time TEDBF goes into developmental trials.

Russia hands over commercial offer of 21 MiG-29 fighter jets to India

Russia will be supplying 21 MiG-29 fighters to India. The Indian Air Force staff received a tender request for the supply of 21 aircraft in 2021. The Russian side has transferred to Indian partners the commercial offer that is now being considered by India.

Last year, the Defence Ministry gave its approval to the Indian Air Force to speedily procure 21 MiG-29 fighter jets besides 12 Sukhoi MK1 from Russia. The Indian Air Force had pushed a proposal to the government for acquiring new fighter aircraft, including 21 MiG-29 from Russia in June last year.

The 21 MiG-29 jets that the IAF is planning to acquire are from Russia and meet its requirement of new fighters. The IAF has carried out a study to check the airframe of the MiG-29 fighters. The Air Force has three squadrons of the MiG-29 jets — a twin-engine single seat air superiority fighter aircraft — which have been undergoing upgrades for extended life and are considered reliable in the air defence roles.

Russia’s New S-500 Hypersonic Air Defence System Downs Ballistic Missile in Latest Test

At the Kapustin Yar training ground, the newest S-500 surface-to-air missile system performed test combat firing at a high-speed ballistic target, & the test had been successful.

After the completion of the full cycle of tests, it is planned to deliver the first S-500 system to the air defence unit in the Moscow Region, The test confirmed the tactical and technical characteristics and high reliability of the system.

The S-500 is not intended to replace the S-400, which will remain in production for many years to come, and has a different role which places a greater emphasis on neutralising high value targets. The new weapons system can neutralise space targets including satellites and space aircraft, as well as intercontinental range ballistic missileshypersonic aircraftbombers and heavy support aircraft such as airborne early warning jets.

The S-500 reportedly has a 600 kilometer engagement range against enemy aircraft - by far the longest in the world - with the S-400 restricted to 400 kilometers and Western systems limited to around 200 kilometers.
