India to shortly
deploy new Israeli Heron drones in Ladakh, LAC sector
The Indian forces are set to get a major boost to their surveillance capabilities as they are shortly going to receive their advanced Heron drones from Israel for keeping an eye on the Chinese activities in the Ladakh sector and other areas along the Line of Actual Control with China.
Despite the
delays caused due to the ongoing global pandemic, the Indian forces are going
to get four Israeli drones soon for deployment in the Eastern Ladakh and other
sectors along the LAC.
The drones
arriving shortly are more advanced than the Herons in the existing inventory
and their anti-jamming capability is much better than their previous versions.
The acquisition
of these drones had been done under the emergency financial powers granted by
Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government to the defence forces under which
they can buy equipment and systems worth 500 crore rupees to upgrade their
warfighting capabilities, amid ongoing border conflict with China.
The other small
or mini drones are being acquired from the US that will be provided at the
Battalion level to the troops on the ground and the hand operated drones would
be used to attain awareness about a specific location or area in their
respective areas of responsibility.
The Indian
defence forces have been taking these initiatives to acquire weapon systems
that can help them in the ongoing conflict with China.
Why Is Pakistan
Setting Up A New Airbase In Balochistan Close To The Afghan Border?
The Pakistan Air Force has confirmed that it is planning to
set up a new airbase in the Nasirabad district of Balochistan to step up
military presence in the region. Speculation is rife that the airbase is aimed
at helping the US troops in Afghanistan.
The service has already inspected and acquired land for the
airbase. Earlier in May, it was reported that the officials arrived in the
conflict torn region who had then proposed a tract of land to be acquired for
establishing the base.
The airbase will be built in the Notal area of Nasirabad. It
is said that the construction of a new airbase would help develop the region.
For this, around 26,000 acres of land are to be acquired and the rate of
private land had been fixed in 2020.
This will also help in shifting focus from Jacobabad, Sindh,
while also creating new opportunities for the locals. This airbase is aimed at
maintaining a more credible military presence in the area dominated by Baloch Freedom
Fighters.
Local reporters, however, claim this airbase is being built
to help the US troops in Afghanistan, an allegation the Pakistan government has
outrightly denied.
Russia’s Rostec To Make KA-62 Helicopter Engine Parts Using
3D Printing Technology
The Additive Technologies Center of Rostec Corporation has
put into operation a laser printer with the largest available build volume in
Russia. The new equipment will make it possible to use additive technology to
“grow” large sized parts for the next generation VK-1600V engine used on the KA-62
helicopter.
New engine components will be created using Russian materials
and the new 3D printer provides the potential for building even the most
geometrically complex shapes.
The printer will be used to create stator parts for the
next-generation VK-1600V engine. The engine will be installed to modern
multipurpose KA-62 helicopters. In total, over 10% of the parts for this model
are planned to be produced in 3D printers.
Additive technologies will reduce the production time for
individual components from 6 months to 3 weeks.
In addition to shorter production times, additive
manufacturing allows producing parts with lower weight without sacrificing
functionality. In turn, this will allow to increase helicopter payloads and
improve their other key characteristics.
China’s New Stealth Bomber Able to Strike Targets as Far as America
The H-20 is supposed to be fitted with nuclear and
conventional missiles, have a maximum take-off weight of at least 200 tonnes
and a payload of up to 45 tonnes, travel at subsonic speeds, and theoretically
fire four powerful hypersonic stealth cruise missiles, according to previous
reports.
China is developing a next generation long range stealth
bomber capable of carrying out nuclear strikes on US targets in Guam and beyond.
The bomber appears to have a missile bay, two adjustable tail
wings, an airborne radar, and two air intakes on either side of the cockpit,
identical to the USAF B2 Spirit, which first flew in the late 1990s.
The Chinese stealth bomber is coated in dark grey
radar-absorbent material and has low drag wings that give it intercontinental
range while also making it difficult to detect by radar.
It would threaten US assets and interests in the Asia-Pacific and also proved to be a threat to India in Himalayas. If the aircraft becomes operational, it has the potential to be a game changer.
