Delivery of 3 more advanced US made sub hunting aircraft boosts India’s plans to take on China at sea

India received US made helicopters and a patrol plane this month, boosting country’s navy and advancing US India ties as both seek to counter China’s growing influence in the Asia Pacific region.

On July 13, Boeing announced the delivery of another “P-8I maritime patrol aircraft to India, 10th since India became the first non-US buyer more than a decade ago.

On July 16, India’s navy inducted the first two of 24 MH-60R Seahawk helicopters.

The “MH-60R and P 8i” both have anti submarine warfare as a primary mission, their delivery reflects India’s concern about Chinese naval activity, particularly submarine activity, in the Indian Ocean.

Second time in two days DRDO successfully tests Akash-NG Missile in Balasore

India has successfully test fired indigenously developed New Generation Akash-NG Missile, a Surface to Air Missile defence system off the coast of Odisha in Balasore on Friday. This is the second test firing of the 30 kilometers strike range air defence missile systems in the last two days.

New Generation Akash-NG missile has been successfully flight tested today at 1145 hours from Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha. The test was carried out against a high speed unmanned aerial target which was successfully intercepted by the missile.

Today’s flight test of Akash-NG has validated the functioning of complete weapon system consisting of the Missile with indigenously developed RF Seeker, Launcher, Multi-Function Radar, Command & Control Communication system.

The test was carried out amidst inclement weather conditions proving the all-weather capability of the weapon system.

BrahMos Eyes Lighter Version of Missiles For Indian HAL Tejas & Sukhoi Fighter Jets

The joint Russian Indian venture BrahMos Aerospace is planning to develop a lighter version of its missile but with similar operational characteristics, BrahMos co director Alexander Maksichev told Sputnik.

We now want to make a missile with the same characteristics but of a smaller size. This work is planned. If it is smaller, then it will probably be on Sukhoi planes, and if it fits Tejas Indian single-engine multirole light fighter, then it will be just wonderful.

The current version of BrahMos weighs 2.5 tonnes, which is a fairly large missile.

Network Centric Warfare for Felons: Russia Boasts New Data Link System for Sukhoi-57 Fighter

Sukhoi-57 next generation fighter has received a number of new features as the design continues to be improved and next generation technologies continue to be developed.

Technologies currently under development include more advanced artificial intelligence co-pilots, hypersonic ballistic missiles, laser and Electro-Magnetic Pulse weapons and next generation engines among several others.

A new feature for the aircraft unveiled was the S-111 communications system, which was presented by Russia’s state tech company the Ruselectronics Group.

The equipment provides radio telephone communications and an exchange of the plane’s data with other aircraft of various designation as well as with ground, aerial and naval command and control posts.

The equipment incorporates the state-of-the-art technology of high-speed data transmission and features advanced network solutions.

Russia eyes buyers for Ka-226T Climber helicopter

The Russian helicopter manufacturer has put its new Ka-226T Climber helicopter, intended to be sold to India under the 2015 agreement, on display at MAKS-2021 international air show in Moscow.

The new modification of twin-engine utility helicopter, as a part of an Inter-Governmental Agreement signed by Russia and India in 2015, is heading for test flights in the coming months.

The helicopter has a unique name Climber because of its ability to operate at altitudes of up to 6,500 meters and its high resistance to strong side winds, high rate of climb, as well as easy take-off and landing at high-altitude sites or in the city.

The Ka-226T is getting attention from several other international buyers than India. The helicopter will be displayed at the Dubai Airshow later this year.
