AMCA: Critical Design Review to be Completed by Early 2022
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has confirmed that after completion of the preliminary design review that was concluded jointly with Aeronautical Development Agency in December 2020 of India’s 5.5 Generation AMCA Program, the critical design review CDR will be completed by early 2022 setting the stage for the rollout of a prototype aircraft by the end of 2023 and first flight by 2024.
Aeronautical Development Agency also confirmed that LCA-AF-Mk2 and AMCA programs are progressing as planned. LCA-AF-Mk2 program has completed all the activities towards Critical Design Review, and roll out is planned in 2022.
Subsequently, the first flight is planned for 2023. AMCA program, after completing Preliminary Design Review, is progressing rapidly towards critical design review CDR which is planned early next year.

LCA Navy Mk1 NP5 Trainer ready for the first flight
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has confirmed that the much awaited LCA Navy Mk1 NP5 Trainer in Production ready configuration will take to air by March 2022 and will act as a Testbed for the development of the Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF).
NP5 will be used to carry out off nominal landing trials to study and collect data on the stress points on the landing gears that will be crucial for the development of landing gears for the TEDBF program that has been assigned to the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). NP1 and NP2 along with NP5 will be used to further collect data for the development of TEDBF.
In off nominal landing trials, aircraft will mimic bad weather conditions that could affect aircraft while coming for landing on the decks of the aircraft carrier in adverse sea conditions. Effects of such landings and stress of such landings on the rear fuselage and the landing gears are important to study stress points and design changes that could be required for the aircraft to last its operational lifespan.

The latest Checkmate light tactical fighter developed by the United Aircraft Corporation has been positioned even cheaper than the Chinese JF-17 in the latest brochure that has been released by the company. Above Comparison of the aircraft’s shows per unit cost of the Sukhoi-75 Checkmate as $30 Million per unit and JF-17 as $55.33 Million per unit as the company is all set to display its Prototype at the Dubai Airshow 2021, which is taking place in the United Arab Emirates from November 14-18.
The company claims Checkmate uses advanced technology including open architecture to meet customer requirements and unique artificial intelligence technology. The jet also uses stealth technology and is equipped with an inboard compartment for air to air and air to surface munitions. The payload weight will exceed 7 metric tons. The fighter jet will be capable of destroying up to six targets simultaneously. The single engine jet’s speed will be Mach 1.8, while the combat range will extend to 3,000 kilometers. It is expected that the jet will perform its maiden flight in 2023.
The Checkmate will primarily target African countries, India and Vietnam Market as the company is readying to pitch the latest light tactical fighter to these countries in near future. The company also has revealed plans for the development of an unmanned Checkmate in near future.
