DRDO working on New Agni Prime Anti Ship Ballistic Missile Variant
DRDO has started work on a new Agni Prime ASBM Variant that could be Game changer not only in the Indian ocean but in the region. Last year, Agni Prime was test fired for the first time. Agni Prime is a new generation of advanced Agni Class of Missiles that will eventually replace older Agni-II but the missile also validated many of the technologies that could be required for the carrier killer role to take out a naval carrier group in the high sea.
While DRDO is still mum and has yet to confirm the ASBM
capabilities of the new missile, the Former DRDO Chief confirmed about its
capabilities and now DRDO wants to develop a new variant that can attack medium
and large naval vessels out to ranges of 1500-2000 kilometers while it is still
away from the Indian coastline. DRDO is already making moves to develop a ship-based
variant of the missile that can be adopted on frontline warships, so that any
attempts to enforce Naval blockade using an aircraft carrier group can also be
repulsed.

India to test its Mini Space Shuttle
The Indian Space Research Organization ISRO, the country’s
national space agency, recently announced plans to test out its reusable launch
vehicle technology demonstrator in the next few months. The vehicle itself
bears a striking resemblance to the now, retired space shuttles that NASA used
from 1981 to 2011.
However, the demonstrator is adorably small compared to a
full sized space shuttle. That’s by design, though, since it will only be used
as part of experiments to prove the concept, before being scaled up so it can
carry a whole crew of astronauts. The first test will involve a landing
experiment in which the reusable launch vehicle technology demonstrator will be
carried via helicopter until it’s between three to five kilometers high before
being released.
The vehicle will then glide towards a runway roughly four
kilometers away and autonomously land. Since the shuttle will be reusable, it
will also cut a ton of costs for the burgeoning Indian space program.
Ministry of Home Affairs calls high level meet on using space
technology to enhance security of borders with China & Pakistan
A day after the Isro successfully launched the Earth
Observation Satellite-04 onboard its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), the
Ministry of Home Affairs called a high level meeting to discuss space
technology for strengthening border security.
Security Forces will seek Isro’s help in monitoring India’s
borders with China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The satellite will help equip
forces guarding these borders with real time information directly to their
headquarters. With the borders between India and China seeing increased
activity over the last few years, enhanced surveillance will help the country devise
better strategies in the future to combat any unforeseen situation.
The meeting will be led by the Joint Secretary Border
Management division and will be attended by the chief of the Intelligence Bureau
along with officials from the paramilitary forces.
Uttar Pradesh to emerge as hub for Electronic Vehicles &
drone units, offer tailored courses too
The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh plans to make
the state a hub of electric vehicles and drone units. The Technical Education
Department in Uttar Pradesh has decided to encourage technical and vocational
institutes to introduce courses tailored to suit the requirements of these
industries. Electric vehicle and drone industries are two most booming segments
in the technology sector.
Experts suggest that these segments are set to expand in the
coming days. Course will enable students to benefit from this boom. The
industrial training institutes (ITIs) in the state could introduce courses in
drone pilot and drone technicians’ courses soon. The technical education
department has asked educational institutes and experts from the concerned
industries to curate a course which can be introduced at the earliest. The move
is part of our efforts to introduce job-oriented courses.
The Tejas in Singapore: Full court diplomacy needed to sell
Indian defence platforms
From Tuesday to Friday, An Indian Air Force detachment of
Tejas Mark 1 fighters, supported by a 44 person team, will fly aerobatics
displays over Changi International Airport in Singapore as one of the keenly watched
attractions of the Singapore Airshow 2022. The IAF team has rushed there at
Singapore’s invitation, being one of the prospective vendors in ‘Capability 55’.
A key aim of participating in international air shows was for
India to establish itself as a vendor, rather than a buyer, of military
aircraft. Seriousness is further conveyed by preparing a composite team in
advance for briefing and conducting the buyer. The team must include
representatives from the platform developer (in this case, the DRDO), the
production agency HAL and the user (the IAF).
Major defence sellers usually have a dedicated department to
address buyers concerns. India has no such dedicated agency, that needs to be
formed if you want to successfully sale products in International Market.
